Snowflake Gradient Tutorial
It's beginning to look a lot like...CHRISTMAS! Even though we don't have a winter Christmas here in New Zealand, it was fun to channel my inner Elsa with this gorgeous blue gradient and snowflake design. I know there's less than three weeks to go, but I promise I will have some more Christmas designs up for you soon! For now, read my tutorial below to see how to get this mani for yourself :)

Ombre Stamped Tiger Print Tutorial
Hey everyone! Recently, I purchased a new Moyou stamping plate from whatsupnails.com and after playing around with a few of the patterns I was really impressed with how well they worked, and I came up with this ombre tiger print design. Read my tutorial below to see exactly how I did it :)

Rainbow Dotticure Tutorial
Hey guys! Today I bring you one of the easiest nail art designs to do, a dotticure! Dotticures are basically any kind of dotty/spotty mani, and there is are just endless designs you can come up with using dots. All you need is a dotting tool or a bobby pin, and because this design uses so many colours, acrylic paints would be a fine substitute if you don't have that many polishes, just make sure to seal them in with top coat or they'll wash right off. Even though it might appear pretty self-explanatory, read my tutorial below to see how to make your very own rainbow dotticure :)

Halloween Nail Art: Jack O'lantern Nails
Boo! With Halloween just around the corner I thought it was about time I did some Halloween-themed nail art, and what's more Halloweeny than pumpkins! These Jack O'lantern faces are really cute and simple, and can be endlessly customised to your liking. I chose to do all different faces, but you could do the same face on each nail, or only a feature nail, or reverse the colours or whatever! Read my tutorial below to see how to get this design for yourselves :)

Vintage Lace Stamping Tutorial
Hey guys! Today I've got this very girly lacey look to share with you, stamped over this gorgeous pastel lavender that is Purple Palazzo Pants from the new OPI Venice collection. I think the combination of the lace and the pastel gives this look a pretty vintage vibe that I'm really liking at the moment. Read on to find out how to get this look for yourself :)

OPI Colour Paints: Swatches and Review
Hey hey hey, look what I've got for you guys today! These six polishes are from the OPI Colour Paints mini set, but if you haven't heard about this collection yet I don't blame you because they were not released in New Zealand! These came out in the U.S a couple of months ago, but I am yet to seem them in stores here, and I don't even know if they will be, so hit up ebay or TradeMe if you're in this part of the world.
The polishes in this collection are a little different to regular OPI, but you may have guessed that already by the white caps! These polishes have a thin and blendable formula, meaning you can layer them over one another to produce new colours. This means there are ENDLESS possibilities for nail art with these polishes, and makes ombre or gradient designs a breeze. I've included my first nail art experiment with these after the swatches, so make sure you check it out.
The mini set I purchased is not the complete collection, there are actually 9 colours in total and these all come in full-sized bottles. The three that are not included in the mini set are Indigo Motif (dark blue), Landscape Artist (green), and Magenta Muse (Red). These polishes are designed to be worn over the silver base coat included in the collection, transforming them all into bright, metallic polishes. The formulas of these polishes are too thin to be worn on their own, but a white base coat would almost turn these into neons.
Scroll down to see individual swatches and my thoughts on each polish, as well as some nail art. All polishes are shown without top coat.

2D Cartoon Nails Tutorial
Hey guys! Sorry for the late post, I actually painted these about a week ago and completely forgot to blog them. These awesome cartoon/popart nails were inspired by cutepolish, so you've probably seen them before. This design is really quick and easy to do, and I think it looks really cool! Read on for my tutorial :)

Striped Gradient Tutorial
Hey guys! Gosh, I didn't realise I hadn't posted anything in a while, so here's another tutorial at long last! This bright blue mani is a perfect mid-winter pick-me-up, and would look great in a number of colours - I'm thinking purple, green, grey; I don't really think you could go too wrong with this one. So without further ado, here's my tutorial :)

Glitter Watermarble Tutorial
Hey guys! Sorry for the late post, but better late than never I guess! Today I have this gorgeous white and gold glitter watermarble to show you guys, which I absolutely LOVE. Glitter polishes don't tend to marble well due to their thick, textured formulas, so to get a glittery watermarble like this you need to marble on top of a glitter base with white polish and a clear/sheer polish. Read my tutorial below to find out how to get the finished product :)

Hey guys! Today I have a cutepolish-inspired design to show you that I actually did before a couple of years back, and gosh I'm glad I have improved! I've included a comparison photo at the end of this post if you want to see the difference. This design is super easy and would look great with any pastel-white combination, so read on for the tutorial!

Blue Geometric Print Tutorial
Hey guys! Today I've got a very on-trend geometric design to show you, which I think would look great in an infinite number of colour combinations. Striping tape is perfect for these kinds of designs, you could make your own by cutting up some regular tape into tiny strips but ain't nobody got time for that, just buy some! It's ridiculously cheap and one roll lasts FOREVER, so go check out ebay, TradeMe or bornprettystore.com. As always, read on for the tutorial!

Fluffy Nails: Flocking Powder Tutorial
Say hello and welcome to my mid-week mani: fluffy nails! Now, you may be thinking "Lisa, it's Wednesday, why are you painting your nails?", and "Fluffy nails? that's just ridiculously impractical!" Well, ladies and gents, I am posting on a Wednesday because I had a bit of a nail fail last week and didn't end up posting anything so I am playing catch-up, but also I've finished uni classes for the semester and have so much more time to paint my nails! Secondly, these nails are not as impractical as you'd think! They stand up to water fairly well and dry off quickly so you can still wash your hands, but I wouldn't suggest scrubbing them or anything. I got this look by using flocking powder, which is basically this little pot of very fine fluffy fibres that comes in a full rainbow of colours and is available super cheaply from bornprettystore, so go check them out. And that's enough of my rambling for now, here's the tutorial!

Double Chevron French Tip Tutorial
Hi everyone, please say a big welcome back to my left hand! My break has grown out so I reshaped all my nails square and I'm loving how they are looking! Though they're still a little short, I think this design works really well on short nails so don't be afraid to try it out if you've got little nubs like I do at the moment. I used chevron nail vinyls from nailvinyls.com, they're really easy to work with, come in all different shapes and sizes and are super cheap so I suggest you check them out. As always, read my tutorial below to see how to get this look for yourself :)

3D Lego Nails Tutorial
Hey guys! Today I present to you my attempt at Lego nails, inspired by cutepolish. These looked better in my head, but I still think they're cute! All you need is some round studs and some brightly coloured polishes and you're pretty much good to go. You can get round studs from almost anywhere - craft stores, two dollar shops, ebay, trademe, or bornprettystore, where I got mine. Read on to see how to get this 3D Lego look for yourself :)

Ombre Stamping Tutorial
Hey guys! I'm back with this totally gorgeous ombre stamping design, but I just wish the gold had shown up better against the white! Sometimes things just don't turn out as well in practice as I think they will in my head...maybe next time I'll use more contrasting colours. Try out a different colour combo for yourself and let me know how you go! As always, read on for my tutorial :)

Black, White and Turquoise Watermarble Tutorial
Hey guys, sorry for not posting last week, stupid uni has been taking up my precious nail art time! I hadn't done a watermarble design in a long time so I thought I'd try one this week and I was so surprised by how well it turned out! I just ADORE this colour combination and I was so pleased to get such a consistent pattern. Watermarbling is also a great option for me at the moment because it looks just as good on your right hand as it does on your left! Read on to find out how to get this look for yourself :)

Nail Stamping: Paisley Print Tutorial
Hey guys! Today I bring you my first experience with nail stamping, and let me tell you it's actually harder than it looks! The observant among you may have noticed that this is my right hand, that is because I have tragically broken a nail on my left hand and it is really not very presentable. The good thing about stamping is that both hands turn out roughly the same, so if any of you are as rubbish at painting your non-dominant hand as I am, I suggest giving stamping a go!

Mermaid Scales Tutorial
Hey guys, I'm back with another scale mani, this time mermaid scales! I kind of cheated and used nail stencils from whatsupnails.com, but I have done a handpainted version before - you can see it here (I think this is a big improvement!). These stencils were so easy to work with and make nail art so much easier and quicker. Another benefit of using stencils is that my right hand looks just as good as my left hand, which NEVER happens with a handpainted design. So without further ado, here's my tutorial for how to get this look for yourself :)

Game of Thrones Dragon Scale Nail Art
Hey guys! There's only TWO MORE DAYS until Game of Thrones returns and I thought I'd mark the occasion with these GoT inspired nails. I am Team Dany all the way so of course I went with a dragon scale design. I am holding this cool little dragon egg in the pic that I made myself out of nail polish and thumbtacks - if you guys would like to know more about making those then let me know and maybe I'll do a DIY post. As always, read on for my tutorial to see how to get these nails for yourself :)

Easter Nail Art: Chicks and Eggs
Hey guys! Today I have this cute little chick and egg design, just in time for Easter. Believe it or not, I have never worn yellow nail polish before now, but this cheap yellow Art Deco polish I picked up at a makeup clearance does the job well enough, though I don't think I'll be pulling it out again anytime soon! Read on for my tutorial on how to get this Easter look for yourself :)

'Blobbicure' Tutorial
Hey guys! It's my first week back at uni and I am painting my nails and blogging instead of doing my readings...off to an excellent start, as you can see! Today I have (what I think is) a really cool, ridiculously easy, no-tools-required nail art design. This technique is called a 'blobbicure', and I was inspired by @jamylyn_nails on Instagram. There is definitely something a bit reptilian about this look with the green and gold colour combo, but I kinda love it! Read my tutorial below to see how to get this look yourself :)

Real Gold Glitter Gradient Tutorial
Hey guys! Today I am showing off this gorgeous gold flake top coat, OPI Don't Speak, that is made of real 18 carat gold flakes (thank you very much, Boyfriend!) OPI does have another similar real gold top coat called The Man With The Golden Gun, released a couple of years ago in the Skyfall collection, and the OPI Mariah Carey Pure Top Coat is a silver and white gold version, so if you want the real deal there a few options. Of course, if you don't want to spend the extra bit of money, your favourite glitter polish will do just fine and look just as good. Read on for this super simple, no-tools-required tutorial :)

Studded Grey Gradient Tutorial
Hey guys! This week I was playing around with my OPI Fifty Shades of Grey polishes and came up with this cool gradient/ombre (does anyone actually know the difference??) I didn't quite manage to get fifty shades of grey onto each nail, so I had to make do with three. Read on for my tutorial to see how to get this look for yourself :)

Ombre Chevron Tutorial
Hey guys! I'm back with another awesome nail tutorial for you all; ombre chevrons! This mani was done using chevron nail vinyls from nailvinyls.com, which I found to be super easy to use and super cheap and easy to get your hands on. There are loads of different sizes and shapes to choose from and shipping to New Zealand was less than $5, so I highly recommend you check them out! Read on to find out how to get this look for yourself!
