Real Gold Glitter Gradient Tutorial
Hey guys! Today I am showing off this gorgeous gold flake top coat, OPI Don't Speak, that is made of real 18 carat gold flakes (thank you very much, Boyfriend!) OPI does have another similar real gold top coat called The Man With The Golden Gun, released a couple of years ago in the Skyfall collection, and the OPI Mariah Carey Pure Top Coat is a silver and white gold version, so if you want the real deal there a few options. Of course, if you don't want to spend the extra bit of money, your favourite glitter polish will do just fine and look just as good. Read on for this super simple, no-tools-required tutorial :)
What I Used:
- OPI Nail Envy Base Coat
- OPI Skyfall
- OPI Don't Speak
- Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
- Nail polish remover and cleanup brush
1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails and provide a smooth base for polish.
2. Next apply two coats of a dark base colour and allow to dry.
3. Wipe off the brush of your flake/glitter polish on the edge of the bottle so there isn't much glitter on the brush, then paint it on your nail from the tip to about half way down.
4. Layer up the flakes with a couple more coats, concentrating more flakes at the tips of the nails and less further down to achieve a gradient.
5. Apply a top coat to smooth out your nails and add protection and shine. Clean up any excess polish around your nails with polish remover and a brush or cottonbud.
I told you it was really easy! I am feeling super lush and fancy with this real gold on my fingertips, so I think I'll leave them on for a while. Feel free to share your thoughts with me in the comments below, or on Facebook or Instagram, and I'll see you next time!
Lisa xx
