Hey guys! It's my first week back at uni and I am painting my nails and blogging instead of doing my readings...off to an excellent start, as you can see! Today I have (what I think is) a really cool, ridiculously easy, no-tools-required nail art design. This technique is called a 'blobbicure', and I was inspired by @jamylyn_nails on Instagram. There is definitely something a bit reptilian about this look with the green and gold colour combo, but I kinda love it! Read my tutorial below to see how to get this look yourself :)
What I Used:
- OPI Nail Envy Base Coat
- OPI Cuckoo For This Colour
- OPI Just Spotted The Lizard
- Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
- Nail polish remover and cleanup brush
1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails from stains and provide a smooth base for polish.
2. Paint your nails one coat of a darker base colour and allow to dry.
3. Apply a thick second coat of the same base colour on one of your nails (you need to work one nail at a time).
4. While the base colour is still wet, just using the brush from the bottle, take your lighter colour and touch the brush to your wet base coat, leaving a large dot that should spread out. Using a lighter touch and less polish will give you different sized dots. Repeat this over your nail, trying not to overlap the dots (TIP: The dots will run into each other, so keep your nails flat for a minute or two while the polish settles.)
5. Repeat steps 3-4 on each of your nails, working one nail at a time.
6. Allow a good twenty minutes for all the polish to dry before applying a fast-drying top coat. This technique can be a bit messy, so clean up around your nails with a brush or cottonbud dipped in polish remover.
Wasn't that really easy? All up, this took me half an hour, which is an insanely short amount of time for my nailart designs! Literally anyone could do it, and I think it would look great in pretty much any colour combination, so please give it a go yourself and share your results with me on Facebook or Instagram. See ya next time!
