Ombre Stamped Tiger Print Tutorial

Hey everyone! Recently, I purchased a new Moyou stamping plate from whatsupnails.com and after playing around with a few of the patterns I was really impressed with how well they worked, and I came up with this ombre tiger print design. Read my tutorial below to see exactly how I did it :)

What I Used:

- OPI Ridge Filler Base Coat
- OPI Black Onyx
- OPI Alpine Snow
- OPI Where Did Suzi's Mango
- HK Girl Glisten and Glow Top Coat
- Moyou London Pro Collection Stamping Plate XL-04
- Stamper and scraper from bornprettystore
- Cottonbuds
- Makeup sponge
Nail polish remover and cleanup brush

1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails from stains and provide a smooth base for polish.

2. Paint your nails one coat of white and allow to dry. This will act as a base for your ombre.

3. Paint a stripe of white polish alongside a stripe of orange polish on the flat side of a makeup sponge, and then overlap the colours slightly on the sponge. While the sponge is still wet with polish, gently press the sponge onto your nail, using a rolling motion to ensure full coverage.

4. Reapply polish to your sponge and repeat the application 2-3 times until you're happy with your gradient.

5. Apply a fast drying topcoat to even out the texture left by the sponge and help blend the colours together.

6. Once your nails are completely dry, you can start stamping. Apply black polish to your chosen image plate, scrape off the excess with your scraper, and then pick up the image on your stamper by pressing firmly onto the plate.

7. Check that your image transferred properly onto the stamper, and then line up the stamper with your nail before pressing firmly down and rolling across it. This can be difficult if you have quite long and wide nails like me, so take your time. If you make a mistake, it is easy to gently wipe off the pattern with a cottonbud and polish remover and try again because your base will be protected by the top coat.

8. Remember to wipe your stamper, scraper and image plate clean before repeating the stamping process to ensure you get a clean pattern every time.

9. Wait until your stamped design has dried completely before carefully applying a topcoat (I was impatient and as a result smudged by pinky!)

10. Finally, clean up the mess around your nails from the sponging and stamping with polish remover and a cottonbud or brush.

A little time-consuming, but pretty freaking cool nonetheless! I will definitely be trying out some more stamped designs in the future, and if you haven't tried nail stamping yet I highly recommend that you give it a go! Thanks for reading, and I'll see ya next time!
