Double Chevron French Tip Tutorial
Hi everyone, please say a big welcome back to my left hand! My break has grown out so I reshaped all my nails square and I'm loving how they are looking! Though they're still a little short, I think this design works really well on short nails so don't be afraid to try it out if you've got little nubs like I do at the moment. I used chevron nail vinyls from nailvinyls.com, they're really easy to work with, come in all different shapes and sizes and are super cheap so I suggest you check them out. As always, read my tutorial below to see how to get this look for yourself :)
What I Used:
- OPI Ridge Filler Base Coat
- OPI Altar Ego
- OPI Alpine Snow
- Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
- Tweezers
- Mini chevron vinyls from nailvinyls.com
- Nail polish remover and cleanup brush
1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails from stains and provide a smooth base for polish.
2. Paint your nails 1-2 coats of a sheer nude polish and allow to dry COMPLETELY. If you add a fast-drying top coat here you'll only need to wait about 20 minutes, compared to more than an hour without it for the polish to completely dry.
3. Once you're sure your nails are dry, apply the thin chevron vinyl to your nail, about half a centimeter below the tip, directly in the centre of your nail. Then, leaving a gap below the first chevron that's roughly the same width of your vinyl, apply a second vinyl below. Make sure to smooth these out firmly so there are no gaps between the vinyls and your nail where polish can seep through, paying special attention to where the vinyl joins your skin.
4. Using a white polish, paint a generous layer of polish to the tips directly over your vinyls, but be careful not to go past the bottom one.
5. While the polish is still wet, carefully remove the vinyls from your nail with a pair of tweezers or your fingers. If any polish did manage to seep underneath, just take a small brush dipped in polish remover and fix up any mistakes.
6. As always, add a top coat to finish off your design and clean up any excess polish around your nails with polish remover and a brush or cottonbud.
So simple, but so clean and elegant! I am just loving these at the moment, let me know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook or Instagram. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next time!
