3D Lego Nails Tutorial

Hey guys! Today I present to you my attempt at Lego nails, inspired by cutepolish.  These looked better in my head, but I still think they're cute! All you need is some round studs and some brightly coloured polishes and you're pretty much good to go. You can get round studs from almost anywhere - craft stores, two dollar shops, ebay, trademe, or bornprettystore, where I got mine. Read on to see how to get this 3D Lego look for yourself :)

What I Used:

- OPI Ridge Filler Base Coat
- OPI Alpine Snow
- OPI Hot n Spicy
- OPI Keeping Suzi at Bay
- OPI Coca Cola Red
- Art Deco Yellow
- Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
- Dotting Tool
- Round studs from bornprettystore
- Nail polish remover and cleanup brush

1. Lay out a number of studs on a piece of paper and paint them with a coat of your chosen colours. How many studs you use will depend on the length of your nails - either 4 or 6 on each nail looks best. For my two hands, I painted 12 studs blue, 12 studs red, etc. Leave the studs to dry for a few hours - I left mine overnight.

2. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails from stains and provide a smooth base for polish.

3. Paint each of your nails a different bright colour and allow to dry. I applied a coat of white first underneath the yellow polish to brighten it up.

4. Using a dotting tool or toothpick, add four or six large dots of top coat on your nails, in a parallel formation like on a dice. With the end of your dotting tool/toothpick dipped in top coat, pick up your pre-painted studs one by one (those that match that same coloured nail) and add them to the dots of top coat on your nail, pressing them down gently.

5. Add a second coat of polish over the nail once you've applied the studs, sealing them in securely, and allow to dry.

6. Once you've done all your nails and let them dry, add a thick layer of top coat to smooth out any edges and prevent the polish from chipping.

7. As always, finish off your look by cleaning up around your nails with polish remover and a brush or cottonbud.

Easy as! I realise these aren't quite everybody's cup of tea; they do look a little funky but I kinda like it. Pleeeease let me know if you try these, or any of my designs, out for yourselves by commenting below or on Facebook or Instagram, I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next time!
