Valentine's Day Nail Art: Heartbeat Tutorial
Hey everyone! Valentine's Day is only a few days away, so make sure you're date-ready with these cute red and white heartbeat nails. These were super easy to do, so as always, read on for my tutorial to see how to get the look yourself :)
What I Used:
- OPI Nail Envy Base Coat
- OPI Alpine Snow
- OPI Romantically Involved
- Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
- Striping brush #2 from bornprettystore
- Dotting tool from winstonia
- Nail polish remover and cleanup brush
1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails from stains and provide a smooth base for polish.
2. Next, apply two coats of a white polish and allow to dry.
3. For your nails that aren't your ring fingers: Using a red polish and a thin brush, paint a short horizontal line starting halfway down your nail and extending about half a centimetre across your nail. Then extend your line vertically upwards toward the cuticle, and back down towards the tip with a slightly diagonal line.
4. Extending from that same line, add another diagonal line back up towards your cuticle to create a zigzag, and stop it at the height of your first horizontal line. Then add a second horizontal line that connects the end of your zigzag to the edge of your nail.
5. On your ring finger, start with the same short horizontal line as you did on your other nails. Then, using a dotting tool, add two small red dots, side by side, in the centre of your nail, and gently drag the dots downward in a V shape to create a heart. You can tidy this up with the brush if you need to. Finish the nail with another horizontal line extending from the other side of the heart to the edge of your nail.
6. Allow your design to dry before adding a thick layer of a fast-drying top coat for protection and shine. Using a thick layer will prevent smudging, as the brush will pull the top coat over the top of your nail, rather than drag through your design. Clean up any polish around your nails with polish remover and a cottonbud or brush.
I really love this look and I hope you guys do too, and feel free to share any thoughts with me in the comments below.
