Candy Cane Stripe Tutorial
Hey guys! There's only four more sleeps til Christmas so I thought I'd show you one last Christmas design before the big day. Candy cane stripes are a classic Christmas design and one of my favourite go-to Christmas looks because they're so easy to produce. Find out how by reading my tutorial below :)
What I Used:
- OPI Ridge Filler Base Coat
- OPI Romantically Involved
- OPI Alpine Snow
- HK Girl Glisten and Glow Top Coat
- Striping tape from bornprettystore
- Striping brush from bornprettystore
- Straight nail vinyls from whatsupnails
- Nail polish remover and cleanup brush
1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails from stains and provide a smooth base for polish.
2. Paint your nails two coats of a red polish and allow to dry completely. Applying a fast-drying top coat will speed up this process.
3. Cut up some pieces of striping tape that will be long enough to cover the length of your nails, and start arranging the tape diagonally on your nails.
4. Using a mixture of the thin striping tape pieces and the wider nail vinyls, lay them diagonally across your nails, alternating between thin and thick lines, and make sure they are parallel to each other. Be sure to smooth them down properly so your polish won't seep underneath.
5. Once all your tape and vinyls have been placed, paint over the top of them with a white polish, being careful to cover your entire nail. While the polish is still wet, carefully remove the tape and vinyls to reveal the clean, red lines underneath.
6. If any polish did manage to seep through, just use a striping brush dipped in the red polish to correct any imperfections.
7. Once your nails are dry, finish with a top coat and clean up your cuticles with polish remover and a brush or cottonbud.
So easy, but really effective! If you liked this design and found my tutorial helpful, let me know in the comment section below, or get in touch on Facebook or Instagram. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next time!
