Triangle Glitter Placement Tutorial

Hey guys! Today I have a super sparkly look for you that could be the perfect blingy accessory for a night out. Who needs jewellery when you have a hundred holographic glitter diamonds bedazzling your fingernails?? Although it's fairly self-explanatory, read my tutorial below to pick up some tips and tricks for this glitter placement look :)

What I Used:

- OPI Glitter Off Base Coat
- OPI Incognito in Sausalito
- OPI Top Coat
- Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
- Loose diamond glitter from bornprettystore
- Small dotting tool from Winstonia
- Nail scissors
- Nail polish remover and cleanup brush

1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails from stains and provide a smooth base for polish -I'm using a peelable base coat so I can remove the glitter much easier.

2. Paint your nails two coats of your chosen base colour and allow to dry. Always use a dark colour as a base under glitter to really make it pop; black or dark blue are my favourites.

3. Paint on some top coat in a triangle shape on the lower half of your nail. This doesn't need to be perfect as it will blend out smoothly later. Use a regular top coat rather than a fast-drying one for this so it doesn't dry while you're adding the glitter.

4. Using a small dotting tool or a toothpick, dip one end in topcoat and use this to pick up a piece of glitter. Place the first piece in the centre of your nail onto the area of topcoat you've applied. This will be the top of your triangle.

5. Add each piece of glitter one by one, lining them up next to one another to form a triangle shape. You may need to touch up some areas of topcoat as you go to ensure the glitter sticks.

6. Using small nail scissors, cut a few of your diamond pieces in half. Place these small pieces on the bottom of your triangle alongside your cuticle to finish your shape.

7. Add a thick coat of your favourite top coat to seal in the glitter and smooth out your nails. Clean up any mess around your nails with polish remover and a brush or cottonbud.

The glitter placement method can be frustrating and time-consuming, but with a little practice I've found it's easy to get into a rhythm and get some really cool nails at the end of it, so persevere! I'd love to hear from you if you try this, or any of my designs, out for yourself so feel free to comment on my  Facebook Page or Instagram, or in the comment section below this post. Thanks for reading, and I'll see ya next time!
