2D Cartoon Nails Tutorial
Hey guys! Sorry for the late post, I actually painted these about a week ago and completely forgot to blog them. These awesome cartoon/popart nails were inspired by cutepolish, so you've probably seen them before. This design is really quick and easy to do, and I think it looks really cool! Read on for my tutorial :)
What I Used:
- OPI Ridge Filler Base Coat
- OPI Coca Cola Red
- OPI Black Onyx
- OPI Alpine Snow
- Glisten and Glow HK Girl Top Coat
- Striping brush and dotting tool from bornprettystore
- Nail Polish Remover and cleanup brush
1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails from stains and provide a smooth base for polish.
2. Paint your nails with two coats of a bright red or pink polish and allow to dry.
3. Using a thin striping brush and a black polish, carefully paint a thin black border around each nail. Don't worry about getting polish on your skin as this can be easily cleaned up later. If you make a mistake or your lines are too thin, just take another thin brush dipped in polish remover and gently wipe it away.
4. Clean off your striping brush before dipping it in a white polish, and create a thin curved line up the side of your nail to make the 'shine', but make sure it doesn't overlap the black outline.
5. Using a small dotting tool, add a small white dot on top of your shine line near the tip of your nail to complete the design.
6. Once your design is dry, finish with a layer of top coat and clean up any polish on your skin with polish remover and a cottonbud or brush.
So simple, but so effective! Let me know if you try it out for yourself, and feel free to leave any comments or suggests below this post. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next time!
