Hey
everyone, today I’ve got a ridiculously simple but ridiculously gorgeous look
for you guys. These glitter triangles are SO easy to do and would look great
with any colour combination (I’m thinking black with gold glitter would look very classy). All you need is two
polishes and some tape! If you're interested check out my inspiration; @nailsbyjema's stunning glitter placement version on Instagram using blue and purple glitter.
- OPI Glitter
Off Base Coat (this stuff is the BOMB, but more on that later)
- OPI Vant To
Bite My Neck?
- OPI Blush
Hour
- Seche Vite
Dry Fast Top Coat
- Striping
Tape
- Nail Polish
Remover and cleanup brush
1. Apply a
base coat to protect your nails from stains and provide a smooth base for
polish. This peelable Glitter Off base coat by OPI is the invention of the
century – your polish will simply peel off in one whole piece when you’re ready
to remove it, meaning you can pile as much glitter on as you like without worrying
about how it’s going to come off
2. Next apply
two coats of your base colour. A colour that’s darker than your glitter polish
generally looks best as it allows the glitter to really pop
3. Once your
base colour has COMPLETELY dried, and I mean COMPLETELY (you might want to add
a fast drying top coat over your base colour to speed up the process) apply two
strips of tape on to your nails to create a triangle in the centre that
stretches from your cuticles to the tips. Make sure the tape is long enough
that you can easily grab the ends to peel it off. I used thin striping tape
from bornprettystore, but regular cellotape would work just as well for this
4. Carefully
paint your glitter polish inside the triangle. Don’t be afraid to go onto the
tape, but don’t go over it or you’ll ruin the look. You might need to add a
second layer to make your glitter fully opaque
5. While your
glitter polish is still wet, carefully pull the tape off (if you wait until it
dries the tape won’t come off smoothly). You should be left with nice, crisp
lines and a triangle of glitter down the centre of your nail
6. Add a top
coat to seal in your design and clean up around your nails with polish remover
and a q tip. I’ve started using a small square brush dipped in acetone to clean
around my nails because it’s easier to get right in close to your cuticles and
leaves a cleaner, more professional finish
