Studded Leopard Print Tutorial

Hey everyone! This week I have an edgy take on the classic leopard print look for you guys, inspired by the lovely @sloteazzy. The combination of studs and leopard print might be a little bit trashy for some but certainly not me :) Read on for the tutorial:

What I Used:

- OPI Ridge Filler Base Coat
- OPI Skull and Glossbones
- OPI Black Onyx
- Revlon Catty
- Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
- Square gold studs from bornprettystore
- Dotting tool from bornprettystore
- Actone and clean up brush

1. Apply a base coat to protect your natural nails from stains and provide a smooth base for polish.

2. Apply two coats of a nude/neutral colour. I picked a grey/beige, but any kind of neutral pale colour will do.

3. Once dry, add four or five random dot shapes using a dotting tool and a gold polish. Space these out quite separately from each other to allow room for the black outlines (you don't have to do these over the whole nail, just roughly over the half you want exposed).

4. Using a smaller dotting tool, or a toothpick if you prefer, add two or three 'c' shapes around each of your gold dots to create the leopard spots, then add in a few random smaller black dots between the leopard spots to finish off the pattern.

5. Once your leopard pattern has tried, take your black polish and paint diagonally across your nail, from a bottom corner to the opposite top corner, and fill in to the tip so you have covered half your nail in black. Your line doesn't have to be perfectly straight as the studs will cover it, but you can use tape to get a smoother line if you wish and allow to dry.

6. Now it's time for the studs. Either paint a stripe of top coat along the line between the black polish and the leopard print, or use a dotting tool to dab individual dots for each stud to go on.

7. While your applied top coat is still wet, use a small dotting tool or toothpick with a small amount of top coat on the end to pick up your stud and place it on the diagonal line. Work from one end to the other to ensure proper spacing.

8. Allow the studs a few minutes to settle and then apply a thick layer of top coat to seal them in. Clean up around your nails with acetone and a brush or cotton bud.

And there you have it, gorgeously trashy blingy nails fit for a night out. I'd love to hear your thoughts to feel free to comment below and I'll see you next time!
