Quatrefoil Nails Tutorial

Hey guys, today I have an awesome design that the amazing @christabellnails came up with and I recreated to share you with you. This is called a quatrefoil pattern and my tutorial here is pretty much the same as Christabell's, so you can check out her YouTube tutorial here. It's actually A LOT simpler than it looks, so read on to find out the secret to achieving this gorgeous look :)

What I Used:

- OPI Lay Down That Base
- OPI Black Onyx
- Revlon Catty
- Seche Vite Top Coat
- Winstonia Dotting Tool
- Winstonia Nail Art Brush #000
- Acetone and clean-up brush

1. Apply a base coat to protect your nails from stains and provide a smooth base for polish

2. Paint your nails two coats of a black polish and allow to dry

3. Using a fairly large dotting tool dipped in a gold polish, create a group of four dots in a small cross shape (top, bottom, one on each side) at the base of your nail in the centre. Add another group of four dots directly above the first one, close enough that the dots are slightly touching. Depending on the length of your nail, you should be able to fit about 3 (you can make it a half-cross if you run out of space)

4. Create a second row of dot crosses up the left side and a third row up the right side of your nail. The side dots of these crosses should touch the side dots of those in the centre. Try to keep them roughly the same size and the spacing even to create a consistent pattern

5. Using a slightly smaller dotting tool (mine is double-ended, so I just used the smaller one on the other end) carefully go over your gold dot crosses in black. Because the dots are smaller, you should still be able to see a gold border around the group of dots

6. Once you've gone over all the dots, use a thin nail art brush or a toothpick to add the little gold flicks coming out from the 'corners' of your dot crosses. Keep these the same length, and they shouldn't be touching each other

7. To avoid smudging, allow your nails a good 10 minutes to dry before adding a generous amount of top coat. Never skip the top coat! It will make your mani last a lot longer and give your nails a great shine, and using a fast-drying top coat just makes everything so much easier

And there you go, wasn't that a lot easier than you expected? It's just dots! Anyone can manage it with a little time and patience, so let me know if you give it a go yourself. See ya next time!
